And yes, in the long run the industry will be forced to adapt in some manner, which is what companies like EA and Ubisoft are doing, and we'll all end up in a worse situation. However, other industries (music/movie/books) are facing their own set of problems and I doubt game developers are going out of their way to purchase DVDs rather than using Netflix.
It's just something the industry as a whole will need to learn to deal with and blaming the problem on consumers isn't going to fix anything or make the situation better for anybody. Griping is entirely understandable, but do it too much and you'll just piss off the people who you're relying upon... which is exactly what developers shouldn't be doing.
