I could totally see something like that happening, except that instead of making the game unusable on other systems that it would lock you out from parts (multiplayer, second half of the campaign or whatever) and require an unlock code or something to access.
But ultimately, I just wish the next generation of consoles has digital distriubtion for all their games, available from day 1. :(
