Basic treatise: If you buy a publisher's game used then you're not a customer of theirs so they don't really care if the "one time use" code thing pisses you off:

And boy did the responses start coming in:

And now they've started posting some of them (with permission, I'm assuming):

My wife and I were walking through some store in the mall, like Foley's or some shit, and she said "ooh, I like that purse!"
I looked and the purse was $80.
I said "holy shit, eighty bucks?"
She responded "Oh honey..." and then I got this explanation on how $80 isn't even the beginning of it, that won't even buy you a really good purse.
I said "Hang on a second... I buy video games. A team of fifty people works on one for four years, but if they charge a penny above $50 no one's going to buy it [this was pre-X360]. This purse here - which is essentially a goddamn leather bag, probably made by child labor in some third world country, is $80? Are you kidding me? Is this some scam you guys haven't caught on to yet? Has no one ever told you women what things are supposed to cost?!?!"
That last line didn't go over so well and I think I had a silent car ride home, but the rest of my point still stands.
