The issue here is that there are consumers who don't like this and take issue with it. They're saying that when the publisher does this they're disrespecting customers.
What PA is saying is that if you buy a used game you're not a customer of the publisher. So they're not disrespecting their customers because unless you bought it new you're not a customer of theirs. And if you're not a customer of theirs and they offend you, they don't care, nor do they have a reason to.
