Because we’re playing a game. It’s a game about crafting a story. ALL aspects of that story need to be covered by the mechanics of the game.

Yes! Exactly! You know why? Because I *like* the combat in D&D, it’s fun. It’s a fun part of the game. I’d really like other parts, non-combat parts, to be as much fun! But let’s face it, making a diplomacy roll is not as much fun as slaughtering an entire villiage of Orcs. But it could be.
