Basiucally I think they needed to be streamlined so each had an equal 'value' - too many skills would cost just as much to get/ be skilled in, but never come up in actual play or be 'mechnically' much weaker than something like tumble. Knowledge skills are a great example of this.
Rather than streamline them, I'd rather just see some skills be cheaper than others to buy, but that's a bookkeeping nightmare.
