How do you make people buy a a game that can be downloaded in a few minutes and has no copy protection?
We are back to the same problem the music industry has - how do you get people to chose to pay. The best option appears to be:
- Make a console game.
- Make a multiplayer game with server auth.
- Make a game that talks to a master server (and catch hell from gamers who want to play offline)
- Make a game that sells to an audience less likely to pirate.
Based on the franchise they had, it didn't fit well into any of these buckets so they killed it.
