tl;dr:
A pretty good series of games gets shelved because of piracy. :[

So today, I will take the easy way out:
Given what you said, perhaps you can then explain why games like “Galactic Civilizationsâ€Â, that fit into a niche market, contain no ads, have a lower than usual price, don’t fit into one of your pre-defined “pirates don’t care about†categories, ship with NO copy protection, and is available on every pirate site out there (just like every other game) – can still sell well, is now shipping an expansion, and don’t have company CEOS that complain about how piracy “killed their game / company / job / morale / ideasâ€Â; In fact, have CEOS that point out what every gamer has known for years, if you ship a good and solid product you have no need for copy protection.
Explain that to me and I will convert this moment to one of those mindless gamers that will believe the unbelievable amounts of BS anti-piracy PR that gets shoved down our throats every day.
I won’t even get into the fact that the gaming industry has been shipping absolutely shameful examples of programming ability for many years in the “ship now, patch later ... maybe†fuck over the consumer strategy... and it’s getting worse, not better.
