Dead Rising 3's 'The Last Agent' DLC arrives today

The last of the Dead Rising 3 DLC packs has been released today and, appropriately enough, is titled 'The Last Agent.' The new add-on for the Xbox One exclusive zombie-slayer follows another Los Perdidos side story, telling the tale of ZDC agent Brad Park, who comes to terms with the truth behind the zombie outbreak and kills a whole lot of the undead along the way.

Dead Rising 3 ships one million in first month

Dead Rising 3 ships one million in first month

Dead Rising 3 was one of the better-reviewed Xbox One launch games, and its sales numbers seem to reflect that. Capcom has announced that in its first month, the zombie-slaying sequel surpassed one million units shipped. The figures didn't detail how many had been sold-through to players.

Dead Rising 3 review: dead end

Dead Rising 3 review: dead end

Like any AAA sequel, Dead Rising 3 is a bigger game: the world is more expansive, the weapons hit harder, and the zombies more plentiful than ever. Unfortunately, bigger isn't always better, as Dead Rising 3 is crushed by the weight of its ambitions, making it inferior to the other games in the series.

Dead Rising 3 has a Mega Man X costume

Just in case you didn't think Dead Rising 3 would be silly enough, here's another bit of news that should make you feel warm inside: Dead Rising 3 will feature an unlockable Mega Man X outfit. Beating the game will unlock the costume, but beating the game in Nightmare mode will unlock the X-Buster.

Dead Rising 3 story trailer is a bloody mess

Dead Rising 3 story trailer is a bloody mess

Dead Rising 3 is due out for the Xbox One launch, and from the looks of a new story trailer, it's attempting to fulfill the system's blood quota all by itself. We get some more insight to exactly why new protagonist Nick Ramos is cutting a path through Fortune City, interspersed with buckets of viscera.

Watch the first 25 minutes of Dead Rising 3

We really like Dead Rising 3. But don't take our word for it. You can watch the first half hour of the game and judge for yourself--if you don't mind spoiling the experience for yourself, of course.

Dead Rising 3 will be available at Xbox One's launch.

How Dead Rising 3 tones down the silliness (a little)

How Dead Rising 3 tones down the silliness (a little)

Dead Rising has taken more than a few turns for the silly, to the point that a major plot point in the second game revolved around a zombie-killing gameshow. When Capcom set about making Dead Rising 3, it wanted to tone down the wackiness, if for nothing else than to make zombies scary again.

Dead Rising 3 gets a DLC Season Pass alongside a new trailer

All AAA games need some manner of DLC Season Pass. So, what does Capcom and Microsoft have in store for Dead Rising 3?

Four packs will be available beginning in "late December." Each content pack will feature new gameplay, including new playable characters, missions, weapons, and more. Each pack will cost $9.99--unless you pick up the Season Pass, of course.

Dead Rising 3 preview: co-op joyrides

Dead Rising 3 preview: co-op joyrides

Dead Rising 3 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting next-gen launch games this year. It's certainly shaped up quite significantly since its E3 reveal, which featured a sluggish framerate, overly serious tone, and rather forced use of SmartGlass.

Many of these issues have been addressed in the latest build we saw. For example, the game is running much more smoothly No longer does it seem like Xbox One is choking on the hundreds of zombies on screen. According to Capcom Vancouver, the boosted GPU and CPU speed helped significantly. "Just with that update, performance has gone through the roof," we were told.

Dead Rising 3's procedural generation promises: 'you'll never see the same zombie twice'

Dead Rising 3's procedural generation promises: 'you'll never see the same zombie twice'

Dead Rising 3 has always been about killing the undead and looking good. Whether wearing a Mega Man costume or a tutu, the heroes of Capcom's zombie apocalypse have always looked unique. Finally, the same can be said about the hordes of flesh-eating corpses.

Capcom producer Mike Jones explained that "you'll never see the same zombie twice" due to the game's procedural generation technique. "It's all procedurally generated: hair styles, clothing, colors, textures. And the gore is too: missing jaws, missing eyes... it's all totally dynamic. That's a whole system that we built. We didn't just model the zombies, we had to model the pieces and the system puts them together."

Dead Rising 3's world bigger than first two games combined

Dead Rising 3's world bigger than first two games combined

The Dead Rising series has come a long way from simply mowing down the undead in a shopping mall. Capcom Vancouver has far greater aspirations in mind for Dead Rising 3, going so far as to claim that the upcoming Xbox One-exclusive will feature an open-world that's bigger than the first two games combined. So, don't plan on venturing across the world by foot.

Dead Rising 3 co-op features new character, non-linear progression

Capcom has revealed the man who will be killing zombies alongside new protagonist Nick Ramos in Dead Rising 3, and shared more details on how the co-op missions will work. Nick will be palling around with a big-rig truck driver named Dick. He apparently happened along the town while visiting a diner, though you'd think the HAM radio would have alerted him to the presence of zombies.
