If you were to argue that, yes, it does then, I'd counter that pirating in today's environment increases exposure for said product. and spreads the value of that product around so more people can see it. Respecting the value of a product isn't necessarily just paying for the right to use it, one can respect it by using it, sharing it, recommending it, and, yes, creating something that does exactly what it does.
If everyone started pirating everything tomorrow instead of buying it you'd see a radical adaption in how people and companies start disseminating their products, but the entire industry wouldn't just collapse. Life goes on.
