New and returning fighters in Mortal Kombat 11

Geras is an entirely new character in the Mortal Kombat series. A close associate of Kronika, the time-bending sorceress that plays a pivotal role in the game's plot, Geras can make use of time- and sand-based attacks in combat. Check out his fighting style in the new Geras reveal trailer below.

Baraka also makes his return in Mortal Kombat 11. This fan-favorite character seems explicitly designed to end lives with gruesome acts of violence, and there's little surprise that his revealed Fatal Blows and Fatalities are over-the-top gory — like rip-off-your-face-and-eat-your-brain gory.

Much ado was also given to Sonya Blade, a character whose performance capture and voice has been provided by former MMA fighter Ronda Rousey, who is apparently a huge fan of the fighter. Like Rousey, Sonya has more than a few new tricks up her sleeve, and her most powerful attacks are suitably bloody.

Some of the earliest confirmed new fighters in Mortal Kombat 11 all made appearances in the the game's live reveal stream. Aside from an extremely brief teaser for Kabal, the stream also revealed that Shao Kahn would be the first DLC fighter to arrive in the game as a reward for players who pre-order ahead of the release date. And, because the team at NetherRealm Studios knows just what series fans want, they put together a fresh new Mortal Kombat 11 fatalities trailer, which showcases the remaining fighters in typical violent fashion.
