Mass Effect 3 for Wii U will include extended ending on disc

Mass Effect 3 for Wii U will include extended ending on disc

The Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut packed a few minor ret-con tweaks, but mostly provided additional scenes to clear up the ending of the game. BioWare seems to be giving tacit admission that it should be considered the "true" ending, by deciding to include it on the Wii U version from the start.

"The extended ending is basically going to be part of the game instead," said producer Michael Gamble. "You won't have to download it."

FTC complainant calls Mass Effect 3 ending 'complete'

FTC complainant calls Mass Effect 3 ending 'complete'

You may not know the name Spike Murphy, but you almost certainly know of him. He made headlines when he filed a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) complaint against EA for the ending of Mass Effect 3. In doing so, he crystallized many of the complaints against BioWare -- and the backlash against those complaints as well. He is easily one of the most vocal figures against BioWare's contentious ending, so now that the company has released the Extended Cut, we wondered what he thinks of the changes.

Rumor: Fans uncover Mass Effect 3 single-player DLC plans

So far, the vast majority of Mass Effect 3 downloadable content has been for the multiplayer. But in a primarily single-player game, it only makes sense that BioWare had plans to produce new story content too. That may have been put to the side to focus on the recently released Extended Cut ending, but now that it's out of the way fans seem to have uncovered plans for a new story mission. Spoilers follow.

Mass Effect 3 advertising 'not misleading' ad watchdog concludes

Mass Effect 3 advertising 'not misleading' ad watchdog concludes

Vocal haters of the Mass Effect 3 ending won't be happy, but an advertising watchdog agency has cleared Electronic Arts in an investigation whether the publisher's ads for the game misled players about how their actions would impact the finale.

A ruling from the Advertising Standards Agency determined that, while EA may have overreached a bit in its claims in a Mass Effect 3 ad that "decisions you make completely shape your experience and outcome," the three endings were different enough and the outcomes were determined by how the players performed in the three games.

Mass Effect fan film builds on gap in series lore

Mass Effect fan film builds on gap in series lore

The Mass Effect games have provided quite a bit of entertainment--and drama--for fans since 2007 when the first title launched, following the exploits of Commander Shepard and his team. The series has also spawned four books and several comics, as well as a number of mobile spin-offs. Now, it has inspired a fan film entitled Red Sand, starring the actor who voiced male Shepard in the series.

Shacknews had the chance to talk with producer Paul DeNigris, director Caleb Evans and the film's star, Mark Meer, about the project.

Mass Effect 3 ending unexpected, says voice of male Shepard

Mass Effect 3 ending unexpected, says voice of male Shepard

Update: Added additional comment from Meer regarding DLC recording sessions.

The ending of Mass Effect 3 surprised many people, including the actor who played the male voice of Commander Shepard, Canadian actor Mark Meer. He has been working with BioWare since the inception of the Mass Effect franchise, giving vocal life to the many choices Shepard has faced throughout the trilogy. But even Meer didn't expect Mass Effect 3's controversial ending.

"As an actor, it's pretty much my job to help bring the vision of the writers to life," he said in an interview with Shacknews. "It wasn't necessarily what I expected, but then again, I didn't know what to expect."
