Mass Effect 4 may feature a multiplayer mode

The next Mass Effect will reportedly have a multiplayer mode, or at least some kind of online component.

The next Mass Effect game will feature some kind of online component, according to Mass Effect’s senior development director Chris Wynn.

Wynn took to Twitter yesterday looking to hire someone to help with the development of the next Mass Effect title. "Things are getting real now and I need an excellent Producer to come shape online for the next Mass Effect,” he writes on his Twitter account. He then proceeds to link to an EA Careers page where BioWare is looking for an Online Producer.

Neither Wynn nor the careers page hint at what kind of online component the next Mass Effect game will have, but considering just how well received Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode was by fans of the series, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see something like that. I just hope BioWare can further expand it with more objectives, gear, and characters.

Of course it will. And it will have random treasure-based unlocks and pay2win purchases of GOLD CHESTS

But if it's as good as ME3, it'll be great fun provided you can deal with that.

BW's MP modes so far have been totally inoffensive additions to their games, IMO, so if it means they can count on more money from people willing to shell out over this stuff, I can't take issue with it.

I hope they are paying attention to how and why ME3 multi was fun. Combos. Ammo, bio, tech, AP etc. Its still the best way for me to kill time waiting for the dryer, a callback... whatever.

Just dont change it up too much!

Considering how much freaking fun ME3 multiplayer was, I say go for it.

I didn't buy a single simple crate thing in ME3 and played it for probably 50 hours. There was enough free ones to tide me over.

Mass Effect 4 single player may suffer once again because resources will be used to make a multiplayer mode instead.

Screw the multiplayer mode, what kind of gay and lesbian sex can we expect in the singleplayer?!

I loved the ME3 multiplayer so I would love to see something similar in ME4.

It would have been better to not have all the treasure based unlocks but it was still really fun. I played it for a long time without spending any money and even if you do everybody works together so its not a big deal.

Let's hope they're thinking deep and hard about how good ME3's multiplayer was, and how they applied none of it to the shit that is in DA:I.

Seriously. How the fuck did that happen?

I actually haven't touched DA:I multiplayer yet but I was holding out hope that it would be like ME3. How did they screw it up?

I thought it was very similar, just that they had crafting. What's so different about it?

So many things, but lag and stability here in Western Europe are basically non-existent on Origin.

The characters move slower than in single player, it feels wrong.

The floaty movement and auto-aim are bad. There is no heft or weight to most attacks, ranged attacks have some of the worst audible feedback I've encountered in years.

The character banter is inane garbage and repeats itself during the same mission. Yes, I really wonder if I can go back to the life I had before. Characters talk over each other and talk over the objective announcer and during fights and in general they just talk too much.

Since there's no cover mechanic and the speed is so low most encounters devolve into static hit trading around the tank, with the occasional evasion when a ranged player draws aggro. The auto-aim mechanics mean line-of-sight breaks are the only viable defense against non-homing ranged attacks, which means a lot of slow jumping around corners.

The added crafting and a bigger emphasis on micro-transactions mean you won't get decent gear for a long time. It's too grindy and most loot just isn't great. There's also no interesting weapons to craft. You have your 4 types and that's it. No cool unique guns like in ME3 mean there's nothing really to look forward to, except more dps and more def.

I really don't like it. I played more ME3 MP than SP, but after 5 hours with DA:I MP I'm pretty much done.

            TL;DR
Mass Effect 3 is hyper-charged Gears of War.
Dragon Age: Inquisition feels like a World of Warcraft clone with 4 abilities per character.

I actually like the Gauntlet-inspired random levels, but they lack variety.

ME3 MP was fantastic. So I would expect ME4 to keep the trend going.

I hope they do L4D style levels where you move and fight. Kind of like in DAI MP which is cool but the combat isn't as fun as ME3 MP

ME3 multiplayer is awesome and fun, my only wish would be to fix the loot system somehow. I know it acts as incentive to play more, but it was frustrating as hell to grind for credits and get jack shit for useful equipment.

Multiplayer is the biggest reason why I'm looking forward to ME4. I have really low expectations for the single player campaign.
