LucasArts canceled game starring Darth Maul

LucasArts canceled game starring Darth Maul

In 2010, developer Red Fly (the studio behind TMNT: Out of the Shadows) was working on a game to star The Phantom Menace antagonist Darth Maul. The game, codenamed Damage, was to be a stealth action game similar to Batman: Arkham Asylum. Maul would have been a deadly assassin, but he would be taken down with only a few hits. It was aiming for release on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

Grim Fandango mod adds point-and-click mouse controls

Even if you could wrench a copy of Grim Fandango away from those who fiercely guard the remaining few, and get over potential technical difficulties, the awful controls might stop you from playing. No more! A new mod adds traditional point-and-click controls to LucasArts' adventure game swansong, making it far more palatable.

Disney abandons Star Wars 1313 trademark

It's been no secret that Star Wars 1313 has been frozen in carbonite since Disney acquired LucasArts. But Disney may have finally Force choked away any spark of hope that this game would ever see the light of day, as they allowed the Star Wars 1313 trademark to formally lapse.

Report: Day of the Tentacle remake was '80% done' before canceled by LucasArts

Classic adventure game Day of the Tentacle was being remade a la the Monkey Island special editions. Developed by LucasArts Singapore, the remastered game would have been pseudo-3D, with remade background art and new cut-scenes.

The project was never officially greenlit, but it was apparently almost finished, with one source claiming it was "80% done."

Star Wars 1313 motion-capture tech to live on in movies

Star Wars 1313 is all but deceased, in light of the Disney acquisition that put a stop to many LucasArts projects. But take heart, padawans--apparently the game will live on in some form, as it's being adopted by Lucasfilm for use in movies.

Rumor: Star Wars 1313 starred Boba Fett

Rumor: Star Wars 1313 starred Boba Fett

Before it was put on hold and then unceremoniously canceled with the closure of LucasArts, Star Wars 1313 was a promising, albeit mysterious, game. LucasArts was notably cagey about it, only noting that the hero's character model was a placeholder without acknowledging who it would be. Now that such secrets no longer matter, sources have confirmed suspicions that the game was meant to star fan favorite character Boba Fett.

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy source code released in tribute to LucasArts

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy source code released in tribute to LucasArts

While Star Wars games have become increasingly shoddy over the years, they were once consistently pleasing. In memory of the late, great LucasArts, shut down by Disney, Raven has released the source code of two such games from the Jedi Knight series, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. If you missed them in the early noughties, they were the first solid ways to have decent multiplayer lightsaber battles.

Grim Fandango playable on modern PCs thanks to ResidualVM

December 21 brought a lot of good news, including the fact that the world somehow didn't end after all, but the real revelation to celebrate was that the classic Grim Fandango is now playable on modern PCs.
