Watch the full Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel E3 2014 demo walkthrough

2K Games and Gearbox have gotten a lot of mileage out of their E3 2014 footage for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. After giving the staff a chance to play through the E3 demo and showing off the opening Handsome Jack video, the developers have now opted to release a full narrated walkthrough for all to see.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel video offers moon survival tips

The playgrounds of Borderlands are already considered pretty vast, but Gearbox is looking to change some of the rules that come with blasting everything in sight. For example, shooting bandits on the moon will be pretty different from shooting bandits on Pandora, as Handsome Jack helpfully explains in a new video for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel devs talk inspiration and iteration

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel devs talk inspiration and iteration

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is far from a revolution, but it impressed nonetheless with some smart mechanical improvements to the tried-and-true loot formula. Franchise director Matthew Armstrong and 2K Australia studio manager Tony Lawrence recently explained to us just how their studios tweaked the Borderlands recipe without breaking it entirely.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel: played at E3 2014

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel: played at E3 2014

Like any game that opts for a subtitled side-story instead of a full numbered iteration, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel struck me as something of a half-step. Gearbox isn't working at it, and it's filling in a story gap instead of telling a new one. As someone who put a fair bit of time into both Borderlands games, why should I care about this one?

Tales from the Borderlands: Seen at E3 2014

Tales from the Borderlands: Seen at E3 2014

Tales From The Borderlands is arguably one of Telltale's most unusual games. It's hard to imagine making a decision-based adventure on what's traditionally been a first-person shooter. But after getting a chance to check out the game's opening 30 minutes at E3, it's evident what makes this game a divine mash-up of Telltale's gameplay and Gearbox's IP.

Yes, the dialogue choices and consequences of a Telltale game are there, along with a number of interesting new wrinkles. But it also has the Borderlands penchant for interesting characters set in an engaging world, even if those characters just happen to be big fat liars.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel trailer reminds you that this is Handsome Jack's story

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is debuting some interesting additions to the series, like the new moon setting and the oxygen system that comes from it. But let's not forget that, first and foremost, the Pre-Sequel is Handsome Jack's story and the self-aggrandizing scoundrel is sure to remind you of that in the game's latest trailer, which released earlier this week.

Tales from the Borderlands screens show dialogue and cameos

Today Telltale Games released the first screenshots of its cross-studio project set in Gearbox's playground, Tales from the Borderlands. It looks, as you might imagine, a whole lot like the sketchy Borderlands art style, with a few clear signs of Telltale influence.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be smaller than Borderlands 2

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be smaller than Borderlands 2

Sequels are meant to be bigger and more badass than their predecessors. But what about Pre-Sequels? The upcoming interquel takes place in between Borderlands 1 and 2 and features interesting new gameplay features. But, it won't be bigger than the last Gearbox-developed game.

"It's pretty big. I don't think it's going to be as big as Borderlands 2," Pitchford admitted.

You've already read our preview of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, right? Why Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel isn't on next-gen or Vita

Why Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel isn't on next-gen or Vita

"All the investment is going on gameplay, not tech," Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford said to us when explaining the decision to bring Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to current-gen platforms. "We're bringing it to the platforms that we know our fans have."

But why not make it cross-gen across both next and current-gen consoles? However, Pitchford said that "the new platforms aren't exactly PCs, it's not free to do that."
