Ubisoft makes The Crew available for free

As part of its 30th anniversary, Ubisoft has made its open-world racing game, The Crew, available for free on PC.

Ubisoft continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary by offering select games from its substantial library for free on PC. For its 30th anniversary, PC gamers have received Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, and Rayman Origins for free, and this month, The Crew has been made available.

While The Crew didn’t exactly wow us when compared to other racers released in 2014, including the phenomenal Forza Horizon 2, we enjoyed driving across the entirety of the United States while also enjoying its use of Specs. Unfortunately, don’t expect a ground-breaking story and there really aren’t many incentives for experiencing other vehicles in your garage.

Considering The Crew is being made available completely free this month, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give it a shot. You won’t have a huge lineup of vehicles to drive, but you’ll be able to change how they perform based on the Spec you equip them with. As long as you choose the right Spec for the right occasion, you’ll be dominating the roadways of The Crew in no time.

Since The Crew's release, the game has received an Extreme update, added vintage vehicles, and even went on a Wild Run in its first expansion. Considering Ubisoft acquired its developer, Ivory Tower, we have a feeling we'll be experiencing more of The Crew in the near future. But for now, get over to Ubisoft's 30th anniversary page in order to download The Crew for free.

Played through the wild run demo. Quite enjoyed its arcadey, open world gameplay. For free it's a no brainer if you like a casual race game.

Awesome, seem to recall the demo being kinda fun but not enough to buy it. I'll give it a chance for free, though!

I've never had a good experience with Uplay and not many good ones with Ubisoft recently. I made a rule a few years back that if I wanted an Ubi game, I'd have to get it on a console. Their PC client is just garbage.

What not good experiences have you had with it? It's been fine for me.

It was pretty bad but right now the client is fine. You should give it another go

Free stuff is cool. Can't even login to uplay, though. Servers must be getting hammered.
