There are lots of goodies coming for Doom within the next week. First, Update 2 releases tomorrow with some new free content, then on August 5, the multiplayer expansion Unto the Evil will be unleashed upon the world.

In tomorrow's update, players will get two new multiplayer maps. Sector is a map for capture and hold mode, while Exodus is a map for One-Flag CTF mode. In addition, new Snapmap modifications have been added, including weapon wheel, jump pads and Hell modules.

Update 2's release will coincide with the launch of a Double XP weekend, which will end on July 31.

As for Unto the Evil, it will include:

  • Three new multiplayer maps: Offering, Cataclysm, and Ritual
  • A new player-controlled demon: Harvester
  • A new weapon: UAC EMG Pistol
  • New equipment: Kinetic Mine
  • New ways to customize your DOOM Marine, including additional armor sets, patterns, colors, and taunts
  • New hack modules

The DLC expansion will sell for $14.99 when it is released next Friday for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

      no SP content :/

But it adds the ability to have more than two weapons in Snapmap via the Weapon Wheel, also it will add bits of hell that can be snapped in.

I guess migrating more of the Single Player... everything to Snapmap is a process, and I'm just happy that at least one step was taken, because it running off of the crap Multiplayer weapon/player/etc code was a shame.

Yeah I really hope they are working on that. Doom + more SP content = A win & $

I am sure they are working on it its just still in the oven.

Was the Doom reboot considered a flop? Just checking out some sales figures on VHChartz, about 1.53 million:

      http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=doom+%282016%29&publisher=192&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200

Now those figures are from June 25th (over a month ago) but looking at the weekly sales, it dropped pretty sharply after the first 2-3 weeks on all platforms. I was really surprised by the super low PC sales (~120,000).

I've only played a bit of the demo (on PS4; by far its biggest sales platform).

That's actually very interesting, and explains why it ended up on Steam sale so quickly.

or... if its numbers are correct, then DooM did awesome and came in close enough to overwatch to be a resounding success.

those figures don't include digital sales, Steam, etc. hardly anybody buys physical pc copies anymore

I have a physical PC copy! I asked for it as a gift so I'd get that sweet fuckin' reversible cover, then I just popped the key into steam.

VGChartz IS NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE OF SALES INFORMATION. At all. Real sales data is very hard to come by publicly, but I can assure their numbers are usually wrong, and sometimes, grossly wrong.

Ok that's good to know and sucky at the same time. I should have known this as record sales have the same issues (physical VS. hard to come by digital sales)

it sold WAAAYYYY more than that on PC. the problem is, DD outfits are vague if not downright shutlipped about sales, and the publisher/developers have no interest or benefit in releasing those numbers usually.

people ALWAYS underestimate how much shit sales on PC through steam and other DD. i see it all the time even on this website where people should know better. the evidence is in the fact that almost every single game that isnt a platform exclusive these days gets a PC version, and for several years we have been getting actual GOOD pc versions, not just shitty ports.

Exactly. We still get turd ports *cough* WB *cough*, but way more often than not, there's a PC port for multiplatform games. That definitely wasn't the case a few years ago.

I'm waiting for the price to hit $10-$15 on PS4. Not because I don't think it's worth more than that, but because 1) I have a huge backlog and 2) the price of Wolfenstein came down really fast, so I figure Doom will do the same (it's already $30 on Amazon).

Honestly I expected a little more than 1 million sold on the PC :( what is that, like roughly 3-4 million in total? Maybe a modest success, but it deserves more.

And when I say 3-4 million being only a modest success that is in regards to how much was spent while it was stuck in development for 8 years

At least people that don't purchase the DLC will be able to play it if a DLC owner adds them to their party. Still dumb to split the base but it's better than nothing. Looks like I'm going to be making some friends soon.

Unless I miss my guess, that's not his point. Multiplayer is far and away Doom's weakest component. Single-player DLC will do more good for sales and longevity than any multiplayer content.

True, but considering how early the season pass went on sale they couldn't exactly just stop making it to focus on SP. I'd be very surprised if we don't see something a bit more substantial than DLC for DOOM sp. Probably get something like The Old Blood instead.

I'm pretty damn good with their creative direction right now.

When was that project started? It was probably planned 2 years ago, no?

              Are they actually developing it?

Also I think basic marketing dictates they support and sell what they have, not what they wish they had.
