I just don't get the big deal as I could see where Google could be a HUGE dick in all of this but they are not (building their own proprietary format, moving YouTube to it, support it if you want access to our vids). I also remember the uproar and disbelief when Google bought YouTube and that seems to be doing ok.
I don't think this will affect the end user in the slightest and would be interesting to see it turn out for the better in some long run. What about security, would this have any ramifications for Hulu or Netflix (I remember them saying something about HTML 5 security and features vs Flash).
