Internet supersleuth Superannuation discovered several job postings matching text of Rockstead's career openings for what is "tipped to be one of the most successful games of 2014." If all goes according to plan, it looks like Rocksteady's next will be ready next year.

Batman: Arkham Origins review: same bat-time

Batman: Arkham Origins review: same bat-time

No matter how precise the imitation, no one has ever gained the notoriety of da Vinci or Van Gogh by replicating their styles exactly. This is the problem WB Montreal and Splash Damage have been forced to face. Batman: Arkham Origins is a perfectly competent facsimile of Rocksteady's work, but it seems the new studio had trouble finding many ways to put its own mark on a series that has already been so well-defined.

Batman: Arkham Origins TV commercial transforms Bruce Wayne

Batman: Arkham Origins TV commercial transforms Bruce Wayne

Video game trailers don't need gameplay to be great. Warner Bros understands this. In creating the TV spot for Batman: Arkham Origins, they've tapped into the story of Bruce Wayne--a well-known part of pop culture canon. By showing his transformation from child to The Dark Knight, we get to see Batman as a younger, angrier man than we've seen in previous Arkham games.

Directed by Tim Miller and animated by Blur Studio, this commercial is definitely a must-watch.

Batman: Arkham Origins goes free-to-play in iOS and Android game

Batman: Arkham Origins goes free-to-play in iOS and Android game

Batman: Arkham Origins is coming to iOS and Android. However, don't expect the same open-world adventure you'll find on consoles. This is a new action game from NetherRealm Studios, developer of Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.

Unlike Blackgate on 3DS and Vita, Origins for mobile does not add to the Arkhamverse canon. Instead, it takes the same premise of the console game and translates it for a mobile-specific experience. Like in the main game, Black Mask has tasked a number of assassins to take down a younger, less experienced Batman. It's up to the Dark Knight to patrol the city, fight baddies, and get rid of the bounty on his head.

Batman: Arkham Origins lets you explore the Batcave to learn combat

Batman: Arkham Origins lets you explore the Batcave to learn combat

"It's something we're trying to do in this game more is to offer more people the chance to get that black belt, to get some of that mastery sense as they're playing through the campaign," creative director Eric Holmes said of Batman: Arkham Origins many moons ago. Although the Arkham games have mainstream appeal, it's true that many don't understand the nuance of the franchise's FreeFlow combat. So, how is Origins going to train players? By offering the Batcave, of course.

In Origins, Batman can call the Batwing at nearly any point to fast-travel to various points on the map. A key point of interest is the Batcave. Upon entering, you'll be able to look in the environment to see new story beats, and you'll even be able to chat up Alfred, who provides you sage wisdom throughout your journey.

Batman: Arkham Origins getting permadeath 'I Am the Night' mode

Batman: Arkham Origins getting permadeath 'I Am the Night' mode

Sure, the Arkham games have done a decent job of approximating the feeling of being Batman. But to really deserve the cowl, you need to do it with severe consequences for failure. To that end, Arkham Origins will have a permanent death mode, appropriately called "I Am the Night" after one of the Dark Knight's favored catchphrases.

Batman: Arkham Origins trailer reveals Deathstroke pre-order DLC

"Iwannit iwannit iwannit!" you may have screamed, throwing coins at a confused and welted GameStop employee, but the more sensible among you probably didn't immediately buy Batman: Arkham Origins upon hearing that Deathstroke is playable in pre-order bonus DLC.
