Mass Effect: Andromeda has no season pass, out on EA/Origin Access first

In a switch to EA's standard sales model, Mass Effect won't have a Season Pass, and EA Origin Access subscribers get it first.

20

EA and BioWare have announced that Mass Effect: Andromeda won't have a Season Pass. Additionally, Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available to those who subscribe to EA Access on Xbox One or Origin Access on PC for a "limited time" before the general launch.

Whether or not there will be paid DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda hasn't been stated by EA or BioWare yet. Although Mass Effect: Andromeda has been said to be a self-contained story and not the first entry in a new trilogy, it would be great to avoid the mess that is Mass Effect 1-3's DLC model. It continues to be an enormous frustration that the Mass Effect trilogy's DLC is never on sale and some of it is just unavailable depending on which platform you play on.

It's not known how long EA/Origin Access subscribers will get access to the game before launch. Previously, Battlefield 1 had a 10-hour demo on Access, so EA may go that route, or allow access to the full game early.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 21.

The Mass Effect 3 DLC is not a mess, it's a deliberate successful model. Sell the base game cheap and make money on the DLC. I assume they'll go with the exact same approach for Andromeda after launch.

I still can't get over how funny looking the lead character in this game is.

ME3 sucked without it. DLC should extend the game's playability, not fill in holes with stuff that should be in there in the first place.

I still hope they release some kind of ultimate edition with the first 3 games and all of their DLC. Probably not going to happen though. :(

They really need to switch it from Bioware points and/or put some of it on sale for once...

BioWare Points went bye-bye a long time ago.

Not for buying ME2 DLC apparently. I was looking into how to download all of the DLC I have and it was a gigantic clusterfuck. Origin even makes you purchase Bioware Points to get the ME2 DLC.

At least they mostly got rid of the bioware website intermediary to make purchases.

I didn't buy anything since I own it all (well most of it), but I did have to go to the BioWare site to download the DLC installers as they are separate still.

On Origin all the DLC is still listed in bioware points for the cost, didn't try clicking any to see what it really costs to buy them, just what I saw this weekend.

I played a lot of Crucible this weekend. Didn't see you once.

I saw you were on. I played almost 40 games of trials this weekend and a bunch of skirmish so not sure how you didn't see me.

32W / 5L in trials this weekend so I was pretty damn happy. Was running one card with some friends as a triple bubble / no backup plans team and it was just gross how scummy it was, but incredibly fun at the same time.

EA and Bioware have done a terrible job marketing this game

we've gotten some videos of a generic looking third person shooter

we know the game takes place in an entire new galaxy probably because they are too lazy to reconcile what happened in the first trilogy

but everything they have showed so far is similar: same cerberus robots, same aliens

they haven't revealed anything about the characters or plot (perhaps to avoid spoilers). leading with tepid voiceovers and the same third person action sequences we've seen in a thousand other games does not inspire confidence

It's been 5 years since ME3 - I'm alright with more of the same if it's well executed.

This is pretty much how I feel as well. I am ready to get back into that world. I am a bit apprehensive that gameplay will be a bit too much like DA:I, but so far the footage I've seen looks good. I like the idea that you aren't tied to a specific class for the whole game and can respect at will.

Whoa, did they say that? Respeccing OK, but class-hopping? I kinda don't like that, TBH.

It looked like the most recent gameplay video that you could respec before a mission from a solider to a tech class. Maybe I misinterpreted what I was seeing.

I glazed over some of that since they were auto-leveling that football player Asari. I'll rewatch again!

I'm ok with cerberus being involved again, but ultimately yes the marketing and reveals have been very underwhelming.

but like peanut said, I'm ready for essentially more of the same if squad commands are on point and there's good guns and loadouts.

You can rest assured that EA will effectively turn this franchise into Call of Duty for space RPGs. There's a new one every couple of years, but it'll just be the same old, same old. I share your lack of excitement.

You want Mass Effect: Andromeda marketing, here:

        - Watch all of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9svc60RIBKw

        - The game is built on Frostbite 3.5 supports DX11, DX12 and Vulkan

        - The game is open world with multiple planets you fly and land on and explore.

        - The game has a robust ARPG and progression system

        - Fly space ship, drive land vehicles or go on foot or use you jet pack to travers the planets in space and on planets

        - You have a Jet Pack! when you travel by foot.

        - Loot, spells, gear, crafting, classes, multiple chars to use

        - Mass Effect owns \m/

        [ pre order here ] -> https://www.masseffect.com/buy

        More info: https://www.masseffect.com/

:) see what I mean it is sort of self marketed it really does not need much to convince me LOL. But yeah I do agree they have really no put much effort into it at this point but really I don't think they have to. The game is going to own and from the little we have it looks insane! and I need to own it and play it.
