We could be learning all about the Nintendo NX as early as next week.

The Nintendo NX will reportedly be revealed next week.

The report of the long-awaited unveiling of the Nintendo NX comes from the Macquarie Group, which has downgraded Nintendo’s stock from its previous “Outperform” rating to “Neutral” as it says its official reveal is coming next week. This lines up with previous reports saying the console would make its debut in October 2016.

The reason for the downgrade is because it believes the console will come at a price that will be seen as a “major” disappointment for volume sales, which the Macquarie Group says the NX will retail between $300 and $350.

This price point is being considered as a way to keep in line with competing consoles, which would be quite the departure from how the Nintendo Wii was priced against the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 when it was announced. Considering the Nintendo NX won’t outperform either the PlayStation 4 Pro or the Xbox Scorpio, the $300 - $350 price point appears to be the logical range, especially since it’s expected to be a console / mobile hybrid.

This past Summer, Nintendo reconfirmed its NX would launch globally in March 2017, which means it’ll have approximately five months for gamers to gain interest in the unit. If they can assure its fans a new The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Pokemon game would release six months within its launch, then we could see interest skyrocket with ease.

We’ve reached out to Nintendo for comment and will update our story accordingly.
