How to eat pasta like a Sim

Today's 8-Bit Cuisine takes a look at the "Goopy Carbonara" from The Sims 3. Be sure to leave us your own recipe ideas in the comments and let us know what you think of the show.

Are you looking for dinner plans? Do you have a weird penchant for keeping all aspects of your life relevant to your hobby? You are in luck! Our collective journey into the kitchen continues, with goopy carbonara from The Sims 3. Check out the recipe below, and try to ignore how unappetizing the word "goopy" is. That's The Sims' fault, not ours.

If you have your own requests for fine video game meals or just have a take on 8-Bit Cuisine, let us know.

1 lb pasta

1 cup parmesan cheese

4 cloves of chopped garlic

      This is...different. I approve.

I also wish I could date someone who loved to cook and did it all the time. That way I could be fat but not as poor from eating out all the time.

Just try your hand at cooking. Start with recipes and follow them to the letter. Simple ones like this are just that: simple. You'll be surprised at how easy it is the first time, and then times 2 - 20 will be a snap.

Also, pancetta is just salty peppery bacon. If you wanna get mostly the same flavor, just buy some bacon ends and add pepper to the pan when you fry it.

also important, i think, especially when you begin to move past just following recipes by rote and into creating your own dishes, is not being afraid to fail. just... cook. the worst that happens? you goof it up, learn something in the process, throw it away, and go out or order a pizza. no big deal.

i hear it time and again, people saying they dont cook because theyre afraid of messing it up. dont be, theres no food police.

And with the availability of Sriracha, there isn't much of a downside if you do screw up. Only a truly epic screw up can stand up to the culinary blackout marker that is Sriracha.

This is honestly the first time I've ever read front page stories. I like this new Shacknews cooking thing.

Agreed. It's cooking for geeks: it's good food, has a bit of a video game tie-in, and isn't terribly complicated. Anyone who can follow basic instructions and has full motor control should be able to do this.

Oh yes, and many thanks for not including tons of dumb jokes in the show. Not everything has to be funny. This is just plain interesting. Also, appetizing.

This is barely videogame related and I have no idea what is going on, but as a cooking show it was pretty good

Pretty good but it needs more references to the game and a bit of humor to take off. It feels like an above average youtube recipe with a very short video game intro tacked on by someone else.

No, don't force the humor! If humor happens, it happens. Don't try to make this good cook tell bad jokes.

If you insist on humor, find some witty game-name to cook with the gal.
