Trademarks suggest Nintendo reviving Seaman

Seaman may be making a return. Nintendo has registered two trademarks recently, both regarding a "fish with a human face."

After floundering for several years, one of gaming's more bizarre mascots could be coming back. A pair of trademarks from Nintendo hint at the company bringing back the sardonic Seaman--or at least some other character with a fish body and a human head.

Siliconera reports that Nintendo registered trademarks for "Mysterious Pet: Legend of the Fish With A Human Face" and "Mysterious Partner: Legend of the Fish With A Human Face" in Japan. Considering the dearth of human-faced-fish in video games, Seaman seems like the obvious conclusion.

Last year, a report from Japanese newspaper Nikkei claimed that Seaman is in development for the 3DS, as part of a Nintendo initiative to "revive other publisher's titles on the 3DS."

I hope it supports the oculus rift so I can have seaman right in my face.

You can be sure it'll heavily rely on the WiiU gamepad controller so you can have the tactile experience of manipulating seaman in your hands.

You don't need oculus rift for that.
