Rockstar Games has a reputation for creating wildly addictive online gameplay, and the latest update to Red Dead Online looks to continue that tradition. The team has just announced a fresh batch of content landing in RDO, including the new Wild Animal Kills Challegen, a new Showdown Mode, plus bonuses to RDO cash, a gift for competing two-step verification, and a hot new Care Package.

Old West players will likely find the most interesting in the Wild Animal Kills Challenge. As the name implies, this challenge rewards Red Dead Online players for tracking down and taking out massive and dangerous animals. Bonus points are applied for players who manage to take down especially large or powerful creatures, and those who aren't keen on PvP combat will be pleased to find that offensive attacks are disabled throughout the Free Roam challenge.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Head for the Hills

Red Dead Online players will also find that the Head for the Hills Showdown Mode is also now live. Tasking would-be cowboys with "making a last-ditch run across no-man's-land to their safe house," heroes will need to group together with their posse and watch out for others players, who are tasked with eliminating them through any means necessary. This is the first of three planned Showdown Modes to come to the game soon, with Rockstar saying it will provide more details about Public Enemy and Sport of Kings Showdown Modes in the coming weeks.

Finally, the latest Red Dead Online content update includes a Showdown-inspired care package offering the following free items for players:

  • 5x Potent Miracle Tonic
  • 5x Potent Snake Oil
  • 5x Potent Health Cure
  • 5x Potent Bitters
  • 120x Express Revolver Ammo

Gamers can pick up these goods by heading over to the nearest Camp Lockbox or by dropping by the local Post Office. Players can also score RDO$50 for completing the first part of Head for the Hills, as well as 10 gold bars for completing Destroyed by Grief.
