If you're still galloping through Divinity: Original Sin 2 and want a heft of new content to explore, there's good news on the horizon.

A whole year's worth of free content is coming to Divinity: Original Sin 2 in the form of Gift Bags with various different types of content that will be patched into the game. As of today, character creation is available for free on all platforms.

Larian Studios announced the news, stating that all kinds of new content updates will be patched into the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC throughout the coming year, created in conjunction with developers Fools Theory and Anshar Studios.

Gift Bags aren't Loot Boxes, but gifts for players, and will be patched in automatically. The Character Creation tool will let you make your character look a lot more like you probably envisioned them in your head. Gift Bag #2's features will contain some goodies inspired by the game's thriving modding community. Larian didn't divulge any additional info on what to expect further down the line just yet.

But if you jump in and start working on your character, Larian has asked that you send the studio screenshots and stories of your adventures throughout the world of Rivellon.

Our own Chris Jarrard wrote up the Shacknews Best PC Game of 2017 award for Divinity: Original Sin 2, stating:

"I could go on and on with more stories or explanations of fun mechanic exploiting forever. To get to the point, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the best of its kind and the cooperative experience is second to none. Unlike many of its contemporaries, it launched on PC with no major technical issues or sleazy microtransaction controversy. It represents the best of what the PC platform can offer players and is an absolute essential for anyone who considers themselves a PC gamer.
