Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Is Monster Hunter World worth it for $25? I haven’t played one of these games before, would be going in blind.

It's a good game if you like that type of game. If you like the combat in dark souls, and don't mind a bit of grind, you should be good. The missions are generally 50 min limit to hunt a monster, but usually take quite a bit less time. The combat isn't "oh, I got hit and I died", but you do need to learn the monster's behavior and be able to attack, evade, dodge, and/or block, depending on what weapon you are using. The general flow of the game is fight monster, make better gear, fight harder monsters, with a bit of story mixed in. I hope that makes sense.

You should check out a couple of game play videos. That should give you a good idea of what it's like.
