Apple unveils iPhone Xr, featuring LCD Liquid Retina display

Apple is bringing the iPhone X experience to more customers in a more affordable package.

Apple took the opportunity to introduce the all-new budget-minded iPhone Xr today during its September Keynote. The handset features an edge-to-edge 6.1” LCD display with a pixel density of 328 ppi. Unlike its more expensive siblings, the iPhone Xr will be available in a variety of colors, including white, black, blue, coral, yellow, and red.

The iPhone Xr gets the same TrueDepth 12MP dual camera system as the Xs and Xs Max, as well as the 7MP front-facing camera for taking selfies. IP67 water and dust protection are included as well to keep your phone protected. Pre-order open on Septemebr 14.

  I don’t get the point of making a special phone in the middle with an LCD screen. I guess it fills out their line but the fact that they had to R&D some of the features is really weird.

    It appears to be new lcd tech. Hence the slimmer bezels on the lcd screen. Reddit is shitting all over how they think they XR has literally the same screen as the 8. If that were the case the screen wouldn't have been given the marketing name liquid retina.
    
    We should wait for the ifixit teardown and anandtech thorough performance review.
