Obscure turns survival horror into monster mash

Remember the 2004 survival horror Obscure? No, that's fine, as the new Obscure announced today has little to do with it beyond licensing the property. The new one is a side-scrolling monster mash, coming for download on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this spring.

To tie 2012 up all nice with a bow before burying it in the woods out back, Microsoft has revealed the most popular Xbox Live, Xbox Live Arcade, Xbox Live Indie Games, and Games for Windows Live titles from that dead year, dead dead dead dead. Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was the most-played Live game, while, you've guessed it, Minecraft topped XBLA.

World Series of Poker: Full House Pro announced for XBLA, Windows 8

"Gotta win 'em all, poker man!" That's how I'd market a poker game, anyway. But Microsoft, for whatever reason, has instead chosen to buddy up with the World Series of Poker to slap its name on an official poke 'em up for Xbox Live Arcade and Windows 8. Coming this Spring, World Series of Poker: Full House Pro will be free-to-play.

The Great Giana Sisters got their start in video games in a cheeky Super Mario Bros. clone which was pulled from shelves after threats by Nintendo, but are starting to make it big in their own right.
