It appears that the Risen series will continue in 2014. Developer Pirahna Bytes has confirmed the existence of the next game in the action-RPG franchise, called Risen 3: Titan Lords.

Sit right back and you'll hear a tale; a tale of a fateful trip into Piranha Bytes latest action-RPG, Risen 2: Dark Waters. Pirate-themed aesthetics replace the standard fantasy fare of orcs and elves but underneath that veneer beats the heart of a classic role-playing game. The resulting world of Risen 2 feels at once both fresh and familiar. There's a lot to like about the game, too, but it winds up being held back by issues such as its unintuitive leveling system and combat that's much more promising in concept than in practice. These problems hurt its accessibility and, though not insurmountable, can lead to frustration.

Ye be waitin' for the bounty offered in the scurvy sequel to Risen? If ye own a console, then you'll be havin' to wait a bit longer, matey. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Risen 2: Dark Waters have been delayed until the end of July.

You, however, may be able to grapple with this--if you pre-order piratical RPG sequel Risen 2: Dark Waters, you get a DLC pack for free. That's a $10 saving if you like the game once it's launched and would buy the DLC, but what if you don't? Maybe pirates are wise to avoid such quandaries.

Avast, ye scurvy sea dogs (with magical powers)! Gothic creator Piranha Bytes' pirate-themed RPG sequel Risen 2: Dark Waters will set sail for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on April 24, 2012, publisher Deep Silver has announced.

Risen 2: Dark Waters sets sail for Steamworks

Piractical action-RPG sequel Risen 2: Dark Waters will use Steamworks for its copy protection on PC, publisher Deep Silver has announced. It'll be the only DRM used in both retail and digital copies.

Being a Steamworks games means that all copies of Risen 2 bought anywhere other than Steam, whether retail or digital, will need to be activated on a Steam account to play. After that, you won't need your discs, CD key, or anything again, as it'll be tied to that Steam account. Permanently tied. In return, you'll get auto-updating, achievements, and all Steam's other fancy features.
