Pokemon Sun and Moon shipments reach 10 million units worldwide

As a result, Pokemon Sun and Moon has become the biggest launch the Nintendo 3DS has ever seen.

On the eve of Pokemon Sun and Moon’s release on the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo has revealed initial shipments for the title have reached 10 million copies worldwide. As a result, Pokemon Sun and Moon has become the biggest launch on the platform ever.

While long-time fans of the Pokemon series have most likely had Pokemon Sun and Moon pre-ordered for quite some time, Nintendo credits the massive success of its latest Pokemon game to the sudden popularity of Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go launched in early July and quickly rose to become the top Free and Top Grossing App Store charts, even though its servers couldn’t meet up with its initial demand. Since its release, Pokemon Go has received its first in-game special event, which caused it to once again top the iTunes sales charts.

Pokemon Sun and Moon is scheduled to launch in North America on November 18th, 2016.
