Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 is playable in HTC Vive, but not officially

Unreal Engine 4 dev creates the game as a side project that looks to work pretty well.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 was stellar RTS game from 2000 and one that could use a remake. But in the meantime, how about trying the game in VR? An Unreal Engine 4 developer has made that happen.

Ádám Horváth created the game as a proof of concept, using 3D models from user Sly_Fox and the mod OpenRA for gameplay. He adapted it for the HTC Vive, and the accompanying video shows it in room scale mode. It uses the Vive controllers, one to point and place and the other as a control pad for selected buildings and units.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely this will be made available to the masses, given all the rights for the franchise belong to EA. But is is still a fascinating look at what could become the future of RTS in VR.
