Diablo 3 is getting a new hero class: The Necromancer will be bringing its bone spear, blood golem and corpse explosion abilities to the game next year..

The class will be part of a new Rise of the Necromancer pack coming next year. There will be more goodies as well, including a new in-game pet, two additional stash and character slots each, as well as new cosmetic items. The pack will be available to anyone that has the Reaper of Souls expansion on PC, or the Ultimate Evil Edition on PS4 and Xbox One. No details as of yet on when next year the pack will be available or how much it will cost.

In addition, since it is Diablo's 20th anniversary this year, Blizzard is going back to the original Diablo.

Diablo 3 chief development officer Frank Pearce said the Darkening of Tristram update will recreate the original Diablo in Diablo 3 where players will traverse 16 levels and come face-to-face with the original four bosses. The game will be a proper old-school Diablo experience with only eight directions of movement and filters for a pixelated look.

The anniversary patch is going to be on the PTR next week.

Finally, two new zones will be coming for free next year if you have the Reaper of Souls expansion. More details will be coming in a panel tomorrow.
