Speed runner completes The Witness in under 30 minutes

The Witness has been estimated to be a 40-100 hour game, but one speed runner has completely obliterated that estimation by completing Jonathan Blow's game in just under a half-hour.

Continuing on the subject of The Witness, even creator Jonathan Blow has been taken aback by the speed runs that have been posted of his game so far. Recall that the game is estimated to come in at about 40 hours and can even go as long as 100 hours. Well, the speed running community has been hard at work and someone has already been able to complete the full game in just under a half-hour.

That someone is speed runner Azorae, who has participated in several Games Done Quick marathons. He's run through puzzle games like Portal 2 and The Talos Principle in the past, so The Witness was right up his alley. And sure enough, he was able to complete the game in a staggering 25:53. The feat was so mindblowing that even Blow himself was astounded.

Catch the full speed run below. Of course, needless to say, there are spoilers in this video, but give it a look and let's hope this means a Summer Games Done Quick exhibition is in the works.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
