Assassin's Creed Syndicate launches Jack the Ripper DLC with VR trailer

The Jack the Ripper add-on for Assassin's Creed Syndicate is out now and Ubisoft is launching the DLC with a new trailer, one that's built for virtual reality.

As previously revealed, today is the day that Assassin's Creed Syndicate gets its first big piece of add-on content. The DLC story spotlighting Jack the Ripper arrives today and Ubisoft has issued a new trailer. Interestingly, the new trailer has virtual reality support for a full 360 degree view of what to expect.

The trailer brings viewers further into Whitechapel, England. The Ripper can be seen in his element, dishing out cold-blooded murder. It'll be up to Evie Frye to put an end to the butcher's rampage, but it looks like the Ripper will be out to get her first.

The trailer below is viewable as a standard video, but can also be viewed on a Samsung VR Gear headset using the Oculus app. The video also supports Google Cardboard by clicking on the cardboard icon on an Android phone. Now is that campaign playable in virtual reality? No... no, it isn't. But if nothing else, this will hopefully be a sign that Ubisoft is considering such an idea in the future.

The Jack the Ripper add-on is on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for $14.99 or as part of the Assassin's Creed Syndicate Season Pass. PC owners will see the campaign next week.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
