Blizzard is going to need some warm bodies for a weekend-long stress test for Overwatch, so be sure to watch your Battle.net account to see if you've made it into the Beta Test Weekend.

Only a select few have managed to make it into the Overwatch beta so far. That number is about to increased significantly this coming weekend, with Blizzard announcing its first invitation-only Beta Test Weekend to help give its servers a stress test.

Starting on Thursday night, Battle.net accounts across the Americas and Europe will be flagged to help participate in the Beta Test Weekend, which is set to officially launch this Friday at 9AM PT. The test will run through Monday at 9AM PT, with Blizzard primarily seeking out feedback in regards to technical issues. The full roster of 21 heroes (including the ones revealed at Blizzcon) will be available to play across Hanamura, King's Row, and Watchpoint: Gibraltar.

Be sure to keep an eye on your Battle.net desktop app, because those selected will only get access to the beta for that three-day stretch. For more on what to expect and how to submit feedback, visit the Battle.net post.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

      (this songs awesome)

i could probably find 3 nights to throw in some tunes and play some Overwatch.
im curious to see what its all about

Seems like TF2 with, im hoping, a bit more twitchiness. (though, i honestly know next to nothing about the game)

DOOM really got me wanting a modern twitch shooter. Let me charge weapons, fire rockets, jump off walls, and run circles around people. Thats a game i want to play.
      oh.. and rocket jumps.

+ class based / different skill sets.. if Overwatch is anything like that...
looks to have some vertical stuff going on as well, judging by the little ive seen. Seems like it could be a great PC/Shooter.

Then i hear things about it being compared to a MOBA... ()_o i hope not.

And a console release worries me..

Moba comparisons are shallow at best. It's a class based shooter, just with a big roster of classes each with unique abilities including a super

            ah ok.
so the roster is whats being compared to a moba? thats not so bad, assuming everything is fair and balanced.. for the most part. ..and it being Blizzard, im assuming it will be.. for the most part. :p
