Crystal Dynamics Is Open To Returning To The Legacy of Kain Universe

"You nearly had me, Raziel. But this is not where, or how, it ends."

7

The Legacy of Kain universe is one that gamers have been clamoring to return to for some time. According to Crystal Dynamics' Michael Brinker, there's a "50/50 chance" that this could happen during the current console generation.

Speaking with Australian publication Finder, Brinker elaborated: "We have in-house developers who really want to make that game. It's interesting because people look back at our history and our franchises and see that we have some really iconic IPs."

"So gamers wonder," he continued, "'Where are they and what are they doing?' Well, we're always tossing around and talking about ideas. It really is 50/50."

Of course, this doesn't mean there's a brand new Legacy of Kain title on the horizon, as this is a statement that could just as easily have been applied to other titles in the Crystal Dynamics portfolio. It's more of a non-committal interview response than anything, but the fact that there are those in the company with interest in pursuing it is great news for fans of the series.

Should the Legacy of Kain series make a triumphant return this console generation, it'll be massively awesome, that's for sure.

Defiance ended with a set up that made my head swim with possibilities for the next installment, with mega epic battles and hope for exciting ways to bring Raziel back to his own form

Legacy of Kain has always stood as one of the finest game plot sagas ever made, even when the gameplay itself wasn't always that great.

Back in 2004, Ritual was working on a new Legacy of Kain game.

It got cancelled once Eidos realized that the game was only likely to break even, not make a profit.

It's painful, but I get that it's a business first and foremost.

What I wouldn't give for a new Soul Reaver game though. Spoiler: It's my left nut.

If there is a remake I would love to play would be the original legacy of kain.

The thing is, the plot is already basically finished. All we have to do is kill a bunch of invading sneaky alien/demon dudes that were running things behind the tentacles that thought they were running things behind the scenes of the old guy that thought he was running things behind the vampire that was pulling the strings behind the other vampire etc.

TLDR: it's suckheads all the way down
