Battlefield 4 begins its 'Night Operations' this Tuesday

To this point, DICE had promised a vague September release for Battlefield 4's Night Operations update. Now it looks like it's coming sooner than later, with the team announcing that the update will hit on the first of the month.

The Battlefield 4 development team previously teased that the game's upcoming Night Operations update would hit sometime in September. Now it appears that the team is wasting zero time, because DICE has revealed that the update will arrive on September 1.

The announcement hit the Battlefield 4 forums just a short time ago. Two-hour chunks of downtime are expected to be staggered across all of the game's platforms to prepare for deployment, starting with Xbox One at 12AM PT. From there, the update will roll out to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

The Summer Update will add Zavod: Graveyard Shift, as well as add some netcode improvements, new audio, balance tweaks, and more. Specific fixes will be outlined when the patch notes are released tomorrow. For more on the Night Operations update, check out our recent interview with DICE producer David Sirland.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
