Hearthstone 'Grand Tournament' pre-order bundles now available

Those that simply can't wait to throw money at Hearthstone for the new Grand Tournament expansion now have their chance, since Blizzard has opened the door for pre-order card pack bundles.

As promised during last week's initial reveal, Hearthstone players now have a chance to pre-order a handful of card packs from the upcoming Grand Tournament expansion. Players will be able to pick up 50 card packs for $49.99, a deal that roughly equals a dollar a pack.

The details of the deal are laid out on Battle.net, with Blizzard noting that the bundle can only be purchased once per Battle.net account. For comparison's sake, buying card packs a la carte runs at a rate of 2 for $2.99, 7 for $9.99, 15 for $19.99, or 40 for $49.99. By that rate, the pre-order rate is like getting 10 free card packs. Those that pre-order will also get the Grand Tournament card back immediately.

The card packs can be opened once the Grand Tournament opens up to all players. Blizzard has yet to issue a date for the expansion's release. In the meantime, be sure to catch up with Shacknews' ongoing card breakdowns and check out our interview with the game's director.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
