The team at Amplitude Studios is continue to expand its legend with even more post-release content for its acclaimed 4X strategy game, Endless Legend. Today, the studio has revealed more details on the latest expansion, called 'Shadows.' That includes an all-new faction called the Forgotten.

The Forgotten utilize one of Shadows' new mechanics, the espionage system. As implied, espionage allows players to utilize stealth to spy on, infiltrate, and assassinate any opposing factions. The Forgotten have embraced this after the faction was banished into the night, long thought to be dead. Forgotten units can use Camouflage and Stealth abilities to infiltrate enemy camps to either take out their ranks or slow them significantly. They can also exercise various counterespionage skills, including the Detection ability to spot foes.

The Forgotten will debut along with the Shadows expansion, which is aiming to release later this summer. Endless Legend is available now on Steam. For more on the latest faction, check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I dig the Endless series of games, all the genres, but I must admit I haven't played Legend yet.
What's the Shack-pinion of that one?

I'm not sure about the Shack opinion, but the critical consensus is that its very good--probably the best fantasy 4X game made yet. It's got incredible artwork, unique factions that all play differently, and a lot of fantasy lore buried within. I haven't played yet either, but its on my short list.

One of the reasons the artwork is so good is because, while the game is hexagon-based, the visuals manage to integrate this as a gorgeous feature of the landscapes.

It feels like the perfect merging of mechanics and visuals.

I like it well enough. Rock, Paper, Shotgun named it their GOTY last year.

Time to go buy. I love these games. Best 4x games I've played in years.
