Overwatch does the robot with 7 minutes of Bastion gameplay

Overwatch's latest spotlight takes a look at one of the game's mechanical combatants, the oddly-zen defense robot known as Bastion.

Overwatch has had its share of mystical combatants and hardened mercenaries, but what about the robotic representation? Blizzard's shooter has machines, too, as evidenced by the latest character to get a spotlight video, Bastion.

Bastion comes with two distinct modes: Recon and Sentry. While in Recon mode, he can fire his submachine gun to ward off any attackers. His Sentry mode will leave him stationary, but with a powerful shield and gatling gun. Bastion can switch between both modes at will, while he can also use his Self-Repair ability to fix any damage. Of course, he'll be completely immobile while recovering, so find a good hiding spot.

Check out the full seven minutes of Bastion below.

During the fuss of E3 2015, a few other videos were posted on the Overwatch YouTube page. So let's also take a look at seven minutes of the simian support character Winston and eleven minutes of the dangerous Widowmaker.

Overwatch is going into beta later this year. Visit Battle.net for information on how to sign up.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

This doesn't look as bad as I was thinking. Still, he seems SUPER gimped. Having to remain stationary for any purpose looks like a big problem, with so many dudes who can get around you or just shell you from a distance.

He looked like he was doing fine in the vid.... You have to remain aware of your surroundings and of your limitations and once again in the vid he was doing a great job of that.

Yeah. One thing I was happy to see is the transformation between turret and non turret mode was fast enough to be able to react to things. He also fires really fast and has decent accuracy at range.

But really - you'll have winston jumping on you, reaper running around behind you, tracer popping up every damn place around you, pharrah raining down rockets from the sky, not to mention all their ults. It just seems like his having to remain stationary at all is a problem that isn't overcome by his plusses.

Is there a post below mine that got nuked then not-nuked?

Seeing him get demolished in all the other character vids enforces your concerns.

Well of course he is going to do well in a match showcasing the character.

Jeez... can we get rid of the player names overhead? Clutter up the screen so bad and add nothing.
