Project X Zone 2 mashes up on 3DS this fall

The massive crossover between Bandai Namco, Sega, and Capcom is set to return again this fall on 3DS, bringing together well over a dozen highly-recognized franchises.

The original Project X Zone represented something of a rarity in games. It was a strategy RPG that brought together the most recognizable characters from three beloved publishers: Bandai Namco, Sega, and Capcom. Years after the original game was released, Bandai Namco is ready to get the mash-up party going again on Nintendo 3DS with Project X Zone 2.

Monolith Software will be returning to the series. The idea is to craft teams of characters from across a full list of recognizable franchises. The veritable smorgasbord of properties include Tekken, TAles of Vesperia, .hack//, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Mega Man X, Yakuza: Dead Souls, Sakura Wars, Virtua Fighter, Strider, Shinobi, and Soul Calibur with more franchises to be named later.

Little information is available about the storyline that brings these franchises together. Expect to hear more in the coming months. Look for Project X Zone 2 to hit Nintendo 3DS this fall. For more, check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
