The Crew gets Vintage Live Update and free trial

The Crew owners are getting a new free update, while those that have yet to take a ride with Ubisoft's new racer can pick up a free trial.

The Crew raced onto the scene late in 2014, but there are some people that may not have made it to the starting gate. Ubisoft is giving those players a chance to get a taste of the action with a new free trial, while also offering some new content for those that are already in the race.

The Vintage Live Update will include four new faction missions. Racers will compete in a dirt race through the Wild West, bash each other in Bayou Brawl, burn rubber down Route 66, or search for a cargo shipment in The Score. The update will also include the Blitz Brawl PvP mode, which will see racers going from zone to zone while keeping opponents out of the designated areas. And just as with previous updates, the new update will include tuning specs for six vehicles. The Vintage Live Update is available now as a free download.

Meanwhile, Season Pass owners can pick up the Vintage Car Pack. This includes the Chevrolet Corvette C2, Chevrolet Corvette C3, and the Spyker C8 Aileron. The car pack is also available separately.

As for those looking to try out The Crew for the first time, PS4 owners can download a free trial from the PlayStation Store today, while Xbox One owners can pick it up starting tomorrow. The trial will last for two hours and players will retain any progress they made, should they decide to pick up the full version of the game later.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
