The PlanetSide 2 closed beta for PlayStation 4 is fast approaching and sign-ups have begun.

PlanetSide 2 is taking part in this weekend's PlayStation Experience, but Sony Online Entertainment also has some good news for those that were unable to attend this weekend's festivities. The long-awaited PlayStation 4 version's closed beta is fast approaching and SOE has opened the sign-up page.

Though the development team has noted in the past that cross-play between the PS4 and PC versions won't be possible, the PS4 version looks to stand toe-to-toe with its PC counterpart. For a reminder, you can check out our E3 impressions from earlier this year.

There's no word on when the closed beta will begin, but those interested in taking part of the PlanetSide 2 closed beta on PS4 can sign up on the game's home page.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I play this SHIT out of this game on PC. Wouldn't mind seeing how badly I perform using a controller on the ps4, heh.

I'll bet anyone right now that the closed beta isn't out before the year is over.

For a game that was supposed to be out for the launch of the console over a year ago,I'm pretty much tapped out of faith that the devs can deliver at this point.
