The year is about to end and that means discussions for best games of the year is about to begin. Of course, there's already a candidate for the weirdest game of the year and that's Mediatonic's bird dating simulator, Hatoful Boyfriend. It was an odd, yet surprisingly competent story. Now the student birdy body of St. PigeoNations institute is headed to PlayStation 4 and Vita next year.

The announcement is on PlayStation.Blog. The story follows a human girl that attends an academy filled with male birds… for some reason. The idea is to make personality-based decisions throughout the academic school year, which will result in this girl going on romantic dates with these gentlemen outside her species… for some reason.

Hatoful Boyfriend is one of those games that needs to be seen to be believed. Check out the trailer below. If you absolutely can't wait for the PlayStation versions to hit, you can pick it up right now on Steam.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
