With Super Smash Bros. set to hit on Wii U next week, it brings into question the future of a certain popular Smash-related mod. Worry not about the Brawl-mod Project M, however. The team is carrying on and has released a trailer for the upcoming 3.5 update.

Project M was originally designed to help fix many of the more undesirable elements of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, like the flighty movement and the random slipping. It also added many previous elements of Super Smash Bros. Melee, like some of the stages and characters that didn't make the jump to Brawl. Project M has since grown to become a favorite for many Smash fans, even finding its way to the professional fighting game circuit.

It still remains to be seen what happens to Project M once Super Smash Bros. for Wii U brings the series to a new generation. For now, it looks like it'll stay on its path, adding higher-definition stages (including those from the N64 Smash and Melee), new costumes, and an updated Subspace Emissary and Event mode.

Check out all of the changes Project M has made in the video below. To learn how to run Projcet M on your standard and Homebrew Wii, visit the Project M website for full instructions.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
