Sega and Relic are adding a couple of major features to Company of Heroes 2. The WWII RTS is set to receive an Observer Mode and an array of mod tools, thanks to a new update set to drop later today.

Observer Mode will allow players to enjoy the CoH2 action from the comfort of their chair, allowing them to watch full-blown matches for entertainment or educational purposes. They can also share that feed with viewers on Twitch. In-between learning some new tactics, players can also remove elements of the game's HUD and UI and adjust the game's camera, in order to create a full-blown theatrical experience. Meanwhile, new mod tools will feature a dedicated attribute editor, mod builder, archive viewer, tuning packs, and win condition packs.

This free update comes weeks before Relic is set to release CoH2's latest standalone expansion, Ardennes Assault. The base game update will deploy at 2PM PDT today for no extra charge.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
