Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has received some substantial updates in the past, but Square Enix is now ready to go a step further. The publisher has announced that the FF-based MMORPG will now receive its first expansion claled Heavensward.

The Heavensward expansion is set to take place in the region of Ishgard, filled with open areas. The game will up the level cap to 60, add a slew of new jobs, and throw in a new playable race. Further details about the new expansion are being saved for the London Fan Festival, set to take place next Saturday.

In the meantime, you can watch the teaser video below.

The announcement comes in the wake of the upcoming 2.4 patch, Dreams of Ice, which is set to come soon. For more information on that, you can watch the video below and visit the FFXIV website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
