The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (as well as its sequel) remains one of the more underrated dungeon crawlers to hit Steam in recent years. With two Van Helsing adventures under their belt, developer NeocoreGames is ready to move on to their next endeavor, this time setting their sights on tower defense.

Deathtrap looks to combine the tower defense genre with action-RPGs, tossing in plenty of violence and gore. Players will go up against enemy hordes, with 40 different types of foes across three races, and defend their tower with magic spells and killer traps. Friends can also band together for the dedicated co-op campaign or face off against one another in PvP. Those looking for a more custom experience can craft their own maps, as well as their own monsters, and share them across Steam.

Deathtrap is set to hit Steam Early Access on October 22. For more, check out the videos and screens below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
