The last few years haven't exactly been a smooth ride for developer United Front Games, but the Sleeping Dogs developer has bounced back and is ready to continue the story that they started back in 2012. About a year after confirming a sequel was indeed in the works, the studio formally unveiled their next game called Triad Wars.

Triad Wars puts players in the role of an up-and-coming Triad, with the object to rise through the ranks of the underground criminal empire. Players will recruit fellow gangsters to serve under them, raid rival gang turfs, and cultivate their own turf along the way. The way you approach your racket will influence what kind of gangster you become.

Senior designer James Agay noted in the reveal video, which can be seen below, that Triad Wars will be coming to PC as an online-only game. No other platforms have been mentioned thus far. Closed beta registration is open right now.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
