The first DLC for Titanfall has been announced at PAX East. "Expedition" will add three maps will be coming in May and it will continue the story told in the game's campaign.

One of the new gameplay elements to be introduced in the first map (pictured) is wall-running on trees. Players will now be able to adjust their path while wall-running, choosing to jump from tree to tree, go higher or not. There will also be "zip-vines" for players to take advantage of.

War Games is another map in the upcoming map pack which "looks kind of Tron-y."

While map packs will be paid DLC, Respawn Entertainment promises that game modes will be free. Another new mode coming to Titanfall is 2v2 Last Titan Standing. In addition, new Burn Cards will be coming, with the next update to focus on Titan-specific abilities.

Another new feature coming to Titanfall is the ability to team up with players via hashtag. For example, you could play against other PAX attendees by using #PAXEast as a hashtag. "The goal is to make new friends for people you haven't had a chance to meet yet," Respawn explained.

A possible feature coming into the game is the ability to personalize Titans. "We're looking into that," the team said.

This'd be so handy on the XB1 -- just drop into the lobby and see who's willing to play!

I don't think these new maps will be very good.

The quality of maps in the base game is really uneven and those are the best tested versions. DLC maps are likely going to be poor.

I've heard a lot of people say a lot of things about Titanfall. One of the only constant ones has been that everyone really likes the maps. You're the first I have heard say otherwise. That being said, only 3 new maps seems kind of lame, I was expecting more like 5.

Lagoon and Relic seem to be the worst. I'd say Fracture and Boneyard are weak as well.

Rise is... eh. It's cool way up top but if there are any objectives down in the lower levels it becomes a pain.

Nexus is way too corridor based.

The main ones I like are Angel City, Colony, Smuggler's Cove. Overlook and Outpost 207 are good too. Airbase, Corporate, Demeter and Training Ground are ok.

I really like the two you said you dislike. I think Airbase is my least favorite... Any map where I have to work so hard to drop my Titan somewhere that isn't a level above me pisses me off.

They already included what I think are poor maps in the base game.

The same maps that went through the most testing to get in a playable state. Now they are left with other maps that have had less testing and are charging money for.

I'm pessimistic to say the least.

Is it your experience that DLC maps are usually worse than the maps include in the base game?

I like to think that the developers can use their experience of learning what works and what doesn't, and apply that to make DLC maps even better.

I have never played CoD before this so I have no idea.

I wasn't specifically talking about CoD.

The only games I've bought map packs for are Battlefield 3 and 4.

I've never actually played a game that had DLC map packs.

I can't imagine I'd ever really buy the Titanfall ones unless there is a compelling reason to keep playing. Already the luster is waning to me.

You don't know they've had less testing. The DLC maps could have been in development from before the game was released.

you know what, I think they will be better because now they know what works and what doesn't. Before they could only really guess what kind of maps the public would like because the public has not played a game like Titanfall before.

Well this is complete bullshit. And the millions of people who bought and play titanfall would also disagree with you. These are the most innovative maps I have seen in many many years. The verticality of these maps is unprecedented. I think you just suck at wall riding and are one of those newbs always on the ground who can't figure out all the amazing paths that flow throughout these maps.

        Because practice...

Oh shut up, please. As if your opinion is fact simply because you delude yourself into believing that somehow everyone who bought Titanfall is impressed with it, when that is not the case. I haven't played the game, nor have any bias towards or against it, but I know that's not true as I've seen plenty of criticism towards this game, just as much as praise. Actually, come back when you don't just pull silly statistics out of your ass to backup YOUR OPINION. To put him down because he doesn't share your opinion just makes your biased crap more obvious. There was no need to be rude.
